Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua USM Engineering Campus was founded in 1989, which was originally known as Chinese Students Union, for the purpose of uniting all the Chinese students. The main objective of this society was to set up networking for Chinese students. Changing with time, it was evolved to advocate Chinese cultures and develop Chinese societies. USM Engineering Campus was moved from Tronoh, Perak to Nibong Tebal in 2001. Since then, Chinese Students Union changed its name to Chinese Students Association USM Engineering Campus. In 2002, it was then changed to Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua USM Engineering Campus. However, the establishment was never easy with all the challenges and obstacles. In the early years of establishing Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua USM Engineering Campus, the executive committee was not discouraged and applied for an official status from Student Affairs Department continuously so that Chinese students will have their deserved rights in campus. Uphold the spirit of never give up, Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua USM Engineering Campus was finally became an official society in August 2007 under the leadership of the President, Liew Yu Wen.
理大工程系分院中华文华协会在 1989 年成立。当时为了让华裔生团结一致, 在当年的中秋节, 篮球场上成立了华联, 也就是现在的华协。此协会的成立宗旨在于联谊华裔生,但随着时代的变迁而演变成发扬中华文化和华文的协会。理大工程系分院于 2001 年从大霹雳端洛乔迁至威省高渊。此后,华协正式改名为理大工程系分院华裔生协会,简称华协。在 2002 年, 华协把名改为中华文化协会。然而,华协的路途并非想象中平坦。在华协成立初期, 华协执委会并不灰心, 依然不时向学生事务局申请让华协成为正式的协会, 好让华人子弟能在校园内得到应得的权力。秉持着永不言败的精神,华协终于在 2007 年 8 月在主席刘禹文的领导下成为正式的理大团体。
